Summer is in full swing now and it means that beautiful women all around the world are eager to get the perfect tan. At first, we spend hours to get ready for the beach and then we spend even more time under the blazing summer sun. But have you ever wondered how much danger the sun is fraught with?
For some reason, people believe that the sun may be dangerous only during the summer as it’s hot outside. Yet, it’s up there, 365 days a year. And you’d better remember about that to eliminate the potential risks. You don’t need to sunbathe on purpose, as everyday sun exposure counts as well. The skin damage builds up with each day of sun exposure, irrespective of whether you get sunburned or not. Even the slight redness destroys the top layer of your skin.

One more thing to realize that sunburn is just the slightest after effect. Dermatologists claim that sun exposure can lead also to brown spots; red, scaly spots; drying and wrinkling; and, worst of all, skin cancer.
Unfortunately, we often forget about all the risk and behave rather lazy when it comes to skin protection. But don’t panic. Today we are going to reveal 7 tips which will help you to spend your time outdoors safely.
#1 Cover up!
The first and one of the simplest things to do is to cover up. It’s better to stay indoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. as the sun rays are the most intense at that time. But if you have to go out, you should pay attention to what you are wearing. The hats and clothing made of cotton fabrics of light shades will make you more vulnerable to the sun than ones made of woven dark fabric. Dark woven clothes protect your skin from the UV radiation better than light cotton ones. Unfortunately, that doesn’t go in hand with comfort. Also, mind that dry clothing gives more protection than the wet one. If nothing else works, at least put a hat on.
#2 Spread on some sunscreen!
You’ve probably seen three letters on each tube of sun lotion – SPF. These are deciphered as sun protection factor. The doctors recommend using sunscreen with the SPF of at least 15. Don’t forget to apply the thick layer of it. Otherwise, you will cut the product effectiveness by 50%. And make sure that you use the waterproof lotion when you go swimming.
#3 Apply right in time!
Put on the lotion 20-30 minutes before going out so that the skin can absorb it. You should also reapply the sunscreen every two hours or even more often if you’re sweating or swimming.
#4 Remember about the vulnerable spots!
Too often we think that we should put the sunscreen on only on such places of our body as back, arms and so on. But we forget that the nose, the hairline, tops of the ears, the “V” of the chest, hands and even feet are exposed to the sun and vulnerable to its influence as well. Pay special attention to the tops of your feet if you are going to walk shoeless on the beach. Also, get the special lip balm with SPF to protect the gentle skin on your lips.
#5 Mind the reflected light!
Even though umbrellas and other shades can give you protection from the sun, this protection is only partial. The ultraviolet rays still reflect off sand, snow (yes, the sun still has its damaging influence during winter, too), concrete and lots of other surfaces. This makes such places as the under part of the chin exposed to the UV rays as well.
#6 Check out your medication
Some medications make your skin extra sensitive to the sun. So if you are taking any of them at the moment, don’t forget to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
#7 Say no to tanning beds
The only thing that can be worse than exposing your skin to the sun is using the tanning bed. It means that you intentionally damage your skin for the sake of tanning. The truth is that you will get the perfectly even tan. But remember about the ultraviolet radiation you get as well. So think twice before searching for the fake sun.
As you can see, protecting your skin from the sun doesn’t finish with just applying the sunscreen. In general, sunbathing isn’t healthy for our skin at all. As you may see, it leads to a whole range of skin issues. But if you remember these simple tricks, you are sure to make your skin healthier and get that perfect tan without consequences. Take care of yourself, girls!
